Personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) is a planned, developmental programme of learning through which our pupils acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future. It equips pupils to lead healthy, safe, productive, capable, responsible and balanced lives. As such, it underpins much of what we do in our schools and can help remove many of the barriers to learning that pupils may experience.

At the BAWB Federation, we timetable weekly PSHE lessons. Over the course of the academic year, these will cover three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world. A PSHE lesson will typically include ‘Circle Time’ which is a fun, highly inclusive activity that makes explicit the value we place on every individual pupil. During these sessions, every child is given an opportunity to talk without interruption, whether they want to share worries, achievements or simply something that they are looking forward to.
